All us organic chicken buyers need to know what we are buying. The organic food store I shop at only displays the heads of the chickens, with the body of the chicken buried under fresh ice. You never know what size you are getting! Can anyone help me????

  1. Ask the shop person to show youu or tell you how big the chicken is..=]

  2. No you cant tell the body condition of chickens by looking at the heads, The only way to tell is by actually feeling them if they are alive and if they are dead look at the skin where the intestines were removed there will always be fat present there

  3. Tell them you would like to see the whole chicken before you buy. When you go to a butcher the steak are all laid on top of each other and I ask for him to pick them up so I can pick out the one I like.

  4. The length of the tip of the beak. Shorter tip = more friction = more frequently sinking its beak into its food pellets = the chicken that eats more = fatter
