Can you tell me a website or software that can tell me the difference among a word and it's synonyms.?

For example .after i entering "chilly" it will display several words incluing "cold" and tell me the difference.

If you look it up on thesaurus.com, you can click on any of the synonyms and go to the dictionary.com section.  It will then tell you the nuances of the synonym.

Works for my son, anyway :-)
