Can you tell me about Bigsby?

A few things I'd like to know..

-How much do they cost individually? I want to add one to my Epiphone Les Paul Special Series 2 (http://images.guitarcenter.com/products/full/Epiphone/632866246338297482.jpg)

-What exactly is a vibrato? What do they do..?

-What brand of vibrato is this (http://i.realone.com/assets/rn/img/9/6/8/2/12712869-12712870-medium.jpg)

  1. Hi

    The first link has no vibrato. The second link is a Bixby. I worked 17 years in the music industry making guitars LOL.. Bixby are usually made for Gibsons because of the thinner body and not supporting a deep enough cavity to install a Floyd Rose .

    What a vibrato  (tremolo, whammy bar) does is to raise and lower the pitch of a note by 2 tones approx. If you use an up and down motion quickly, it will vibrate the frequency of that note.

    A bixby is roughly $90 plus another 75 for installation. Make sure the person doing it knows his stuff well.
