  1. Nobody can tell you more about them then their website.  It explains it all:

    http://www.peta.org/about/

I am a huge animal lover, but do not like Peta at all.  The biggest problem that I have with them right now is their view on horse racing (they think it is cruel and they force the horses to race).  They don't work with these animals on a daily bases.  If they did, they would know that they love to run and are full of energy.  You should see the yearlings and foals racing in the fields.  They have a blast.

I do agree on some of their other views though (like dog fighting, c**k fighting, spaying, etc.).  They just seem to take it too far sometimes.

  2. The website petakillsanimals cannot be substantiated by any fact.  That is just some crazy person's (or crazy group's) attack on PeTA.  PeTA is not a shelter and does not accept animals.  They are not killing animals, and they do not use terrorist tactics (such as blowing up anything or killing people) to make their point.  They may use extreme measures to make their point but they do not kill or hurt people or animals.  You really must do your research before you believe this stuff, either way.

  3. I'm vegetarian, and I can't stand PETA either. I'm all for animal rights, anti-fur, and vegetarianism, but PETA takes it to the extreme. They don't even think it is "ethical" to have pets. But they do seem to find it ethical to put to sleep over 30,000 cats and dogs that could have been adopted at shelters. I definately don't support that. I just think that PETA is hiding too much information, and I don't trust them. Half the people I know look at them as a terrorist group lol. But to the point, they just give vegans and vegetarians a bad name.

edit: okay, sorry, that's 10,000 animals they put down (like that's any better), but here's a website that will tell you more about them and pets.

And they beleive that keeping pets is unethical because in their eyes everyone is like Michael Vick, and keeps their dogs on chains outsides their whole lives. Here's another link about this.

Okay, Carrie, look up Peta and Pets on google and you'll find dozens of sources stating how many animals were put down by PETA.

  4. PETA wants total animal libertation. They want to set free all the doggies and kitties and bears and lions and let them live totally free and natural lives. Then they want the animals to eat all humans. LOL.

They euthanize 90% of the animals they receive. The national average rfate of euthanasia is about 56%. PETA, in my mind, is twisted.

  5. PETA believes animals are not ours to eat, wear, use for entertainment, or experiment on. Basically, PETA believes that animals are sentient beings with their own interests; they're not inanimate objects that we can use and abuse however we like.

PETA is probably the most well-known animal rights / vegetarian organization in the world, so most people automatically associate vegans and animal lovers with PETA.

I think PETA does a lot of good work. They've spayed and neutered 45,000 animals with their mobile, low-cost spay and neuter clinic. They've forced fast food chains to make significant changes. (KFC Canada is adding a vegan chicken option to more than half of its stores as a result of PETA's campaign.) PETA's gotten designers and stores to stop selling fur and stop testing on animals.

    More victories:

Sometimes PETA's tactics get media attention but aren't well received by the general population. Overall, I'm glad that PETA is out there working hard on behalf of animals.

    EDIT:

The organization doesn't kill animals to make a point. Could you clarify what you meant by that? PETA sends undercover investigators to fur farms, slaughterhouses, laboratories, etc. to document what is being done to animals. The fur used in PETA's demonstrations is donated by former fur wearers who have had a change of heart.

    EDIT:

PETA doesn't operate a humane society / adoption service; the organization refers adoptable animals to a nearby shelter with high adoption rates. The animals who are brought to PETA are ravaged by diseases, suffering from injuries, or are too dangerous & aggressive to be adopted. In these cases, euthanasia is often the kindest option.

PETA is against breeding and buying animals when there are so many homeless animals being euthanized in shelters every year. PETA encourages people to adopt from shelters instead of supporting puppy mills and breeders.

It's easier to go to their website.

  7. i am an animal rights activist but do not support PETA they get too  out of line for me and they do these public things for attention more so then to get people awareness on the cause they were originally meant for they go around throwing pies and beating people up and throwing and slashing paint on people that may support fur thats extreme if i i ever heard it and totally unnecessary i think they have turned what used to be a good idea and warped it and totally damagaed there reputation they scare me truthfully and i would rather start my own animal rights group before joing them....................

  8. PetA is retarded they kill dogs, lie, burn down buildings and stay stupid stuff as someone who cares for animals i think PetA is horrible
