I am thinking about going to Puebla, Mexico from late may to early july. What are the weather conditions like during that time? How is Puebla itself? I just want to know more about the area. Thank you very much for any help you can give me!

  1. Here is a link to a great puebla travel site.

    Hope the info helps!

  2. Climate around may its the hottest season of the year for Puebla reaching temperatures of 80 to 85 degrees in the afternoon and cool  to early 70's at night.

Puebla is one of the oldest cities in Mexico, the down town seems a lot to the one of Mexico city, only better, also the city had several periods of unusual prosperity during the colony, so a lot of buildings and specially churches are really opulent, the university is one of the oldest in the continent, visit the Biblioteca Palafoxiana, some books date all the way back to the 1500´s ,  the first theater in the continent also lies in Puebla, the cathedral is huge and down town is full with edifications with a lot of history. When you get there to main square look for a tourism office so you can get a guide or a tour of the city, they do that in buses that seems like old trains or a double decker red bus kind like the English ones only more modern.

Av. Juarez is the place where you will find fine restaurants not far from downtown.

Cholula is a town within the metropolitan area of Puebla, the town has a pyramid buried by the Spaniards that you can visit. On the top of this you will find a small church with an excellent view of the volcanoes. The town its self its very pretty an typical of Mexico.

There are also two excellent zoos.

And if you like cheese go to the near town of Chipilo where a community of Italians from Veneto region still lives and talk their native tongue, the town its no much but the cheeses are very good.

Night life. - Most of it in Av. Juarez after 10 pm, and the vicinities of UDLAP a university that resemble an American one at Cholula.

Has two big malls and several small ones...food is unique etc.

Its Mexico´s 4th largest city, with over 2000 000 people.

  3. You would be going during the rainy season. That means it rains some nearly every day, some days lots, some just a little. It is usually only raining during the late afternoon. It does mean the plants are lush and the flowers are blooming.

Puebla is a charming colonial city, and supposedly the home of mole sauce. They still have some of the best mole in Mexico, IMHO. It is much more laid back and not so touristy as many of the cities on the coasts. A good choice to see the real Mexico. Speak at least some Spanish and the people will be friendly and gracious and you'll have a wonderful time.
