  1. There are schools specifically for them--Divers Institute of Technology is one that I know of.  You might be able to be trained if you knew someone who did that for a living--perhaps a geoduck fisherman.  From actual commercial divers that I've talked to the earnings can be great depending on the job--I've heard anywhere from 500/hour for saturation divers to a flat rate to a depth of 30 feet and then 1 dollar extra per foot deeper than that.  The one thing I could never get a straight answer for was if the money was so good why didn't any of them stay in the profession?  The task descriptions never sounded interesting to me though and the environments aren't always warm tropical with 50' visibility.  I think typical of other hazardous jobs, the pay increases with the risk.

  2. Commercial diving is a good trade but can be dangerous too that's why there's some ca$h reward.

You need training in a special school and I believe they have one in Louisiana cause most jobs are in the golf of Mexico dealing with oil platforms..etc

    Good luck partner!

  3. Well I'm a two year diver with my school club. Usually at any college you can go and ask the coach for lessons. I'm in high school so the only traveling I do for diving is to meets. When you get REALLY good, you can look up the Mirage Entertainment company and get a job diving at theme parks for summers so you COULD travel...It's really a sport worth trying!

  4. I know if you become a school bus driver you can get your CDL license.

school vacations off and mid day naps.
