Question:

Can you tell me about high school?

I'm going into high school, and I have so many questions.

Is there a difference between the teachers in middle school and high school?

How much harder are the courses?

What types of clubs are good for a college application?

Since the school is so big, will I have time to go to my locker and get to class on time?

Any other tips about high school will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

  1. for me high school was way easier than middle school the teachers didn't even give a c**p and i found the work easier(i took applied in high school, middle school they teach academic if you didn't know). about the locker thing  the school i'm at the teachers tell you not to go to your locker between classes but i do it anyways they can't do much. you should have enough time though but depends on where you are, where your next class is, how big your school is and where your locker is but you should have enough time if not you might have to jog

  2. high school teachers will tend to tell you how your not in grammar school any more when they get pissed off

The courses honestly arent that much harder

all clubs are good, itz even better if you are president of it

Generally, most teachers dont care if you are a little late(and i go to a "strict" catholic school), but for the first couple of weeks play it safe and show up on time. one you get to know your teachers, u can see what you can and cant get away with. After all, itz better in most cases to be a minute or 2 late than be completly unprepared.

  3. Decide what you want to "be when you grow up". At least have an idea. I'll give you an example. If you want to be a doctor then volunteer at a hospital (like me) and stuff of that nature and join like a environmental club in school and maybe a few others. Courses, eh, it depends. If you are in the IB programme it is intense if you are in the AP program that is also very hard, what you really want is honors classes which are hard but not extremely difficult other than that, if it is not an honors class it's no hard, plain and simple. You should have plenty of time to go to your locker but if you don't, DO NOT PANIC. The teachers at any school like you slide the first week or two and if that is still a problem just bring it up with your guidance counselor, you will not get detention and if you do (which you shouldn't) it isn't a big deal an proves your teacher is an ***. I just say this because I was late every day to one class freshman year at the same time which couldn't be helped and they counted it against me.

  4. It all depends on the school of course but in general...some of the teachers may be a tad bit harder just because high school is kind of preparing you for college so they don't want to baby you too much.  The classes are harder but they only gradually get harder just like the transition from elementary to middle school.  I would encourage anyone going to high school to get involved in as many things as possible.  It doesn't have to be just anything, make sure it is something you are interested in...this way, you meet lots of different people, have fun and will have something to put on your college application.  If you do join any clubs, think about having a position like secretary or even president of the club...that looks good on a college application because it shows leadership and responsibility.  Make sure you keep your grades up of course, if the college sees you are involved and are able to keep your grades up too, they will probably like that.

At my school we only had about 7 minutes to get to our locker and get to the next class but it was enough time even if the class was far away.  If you have a problem getting to your locker and to class on time just let the teacher know and I'm sure he or she will understand.

    I hope I helped.

  5. listen dont be so worried, after like the first week you will be like oh my whyd i worry so much?

the teachers differ from middle school teachers, but i think in a good one highschool teachers are more fun and treat you more maturly.

the coarses are only as hard as you make them, you no depends on if its honors academic or basic. and you will have more than enough time they give you time! and if ur class is on the WHOLE other side see if you can keep ur books in that class or share someones locker on that side.

good classes to take to look good for college is languages, like president of your grade, chain reaction, and of course sports

    TIPS:

just have fun its your last 4 years of highschool, and they go by SO fast. im not even kidding, just have a blast and keep up good grades!

  6. The teachers are amazing. They treat you like adults and joke around with you more now that you're grown up a bit. It'll get better through out HS if they aren't as friendly your first year. The courses are the same, but in the sense that 5th grade was easier than 6th, and so on, you know? It's not like all of a sudden they're giving you work that belongs in the hands of a boy/girl genius. Just pay attention and do the work.

If your school has NHS (national honor society) or KEY club those always look great. clubs that give back to your community, or do things. Any kind of clubs though.

You should have enough time. Maybe not at the beginning but by the middle of the school year you'll be familiar enough with the school to work out your routes to classes and whatnot so you have enough time. You'll be fine, trust me!!
