Can you tell me about texas region numbers?

Question

i was just informed that texas is divided up by regions ( i dont mean geographically like the hill country and the piney wood or whatever, but i mean numbers. i was told that for schools and things if you go outside a certain region it matters. i'm not from texas at all but i plan to move there. can you explain which regions are which numbers, can you find a map?

Region 1  - Panhandle (Amarillo, Lubbock), Region 2/3  - North (Abilene, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lewisville), Region 4/5 - East (Shreveport), Region 6 - (Baytown, Galveston, Houston) Region 7 - Central (Austin, Temple, Waco), Region 8 - South Central (San Antonio), Region 9/10 - West (El Paso, San Angelo), Region 11 - South (Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Harlington, McAllen)
