Can you tell me about the modern USO and what is it like to be part of the USO?

I was at the Hartsfield-jackson airport In ATL, GA and I saw the USO at work, welcoming home are troops. How can I be apart of that organization?

you can volunteer with any of them..if there is one in your town call them up and ask them what you can do to help support them..we didnt use the one in atlanta when we went thru there..but the one in st. louis was a god send 15 years ago when we missed a plane into ky and there was no way to get home that night...and we were on orders blah blah...we stayed in the air port in the uso...and felt safe...and could have taken a shower etc if we wanted....its a great organization

Thank you so much for wanting to assist.  Just go the USO and ask.  Almost all employees at the USO are volunteer.  And the USO at ATL is a very vital location as it welcomes home a LARGE majority of the service members coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan for their mid-tour leave.
