  1. Carnation are quite easy to grow and since they are perennials you don't really need to do anything they will self seed and grow the following year.  Just as wildflowers along the highway do.  Self seeding!

  2. When you deadhead save the flowers.  Let them dry out and the part that is in the bud is the seed and you can start them from seed.

  3. two ways to reproduce. You can go the seed route, by which leave the blooms on and after pollination, seeds will form. When relatively dried out they shoul be ready for harvesting. Sew in a well draines organic soil and keep moist. Seedlings could provide any color offspring.

i prefer to divide perennials. carnations can be divided some. Dig them up and gently shake the soil off,. Then gently pull the plant apart, separating it at the center. be sure to get roots on each piece. Plant each carefully getting the foliage just above the ground. water.

Carnations like sandy soils. This is helpful too if you desire to divide them later. Divisions are true to the original.

And the pros probably are doing cell division today. Grow hundreds in a petrie dish. A little more complicated.
