"We rarely ever see each other, so, as a result, were not that close."

It's part of an essay that I'm working on. Thanks in advance! :)

  1. No, this sentence has problems.

First, rarely ever is a grammatical error in & of itself.

    2) were not that close: means what? we're not? otherwise it would be we are not that close (for we rarely see each other). Verbs are both present, or both past

    3) Lose "as a result" completely

    4) Delete the comma after so.

FInally, don't say "that close". It's an inanity. Say we are not very close, or not close at all, or not really close. Or anything. Don't say not that close, it's inherently ungrammatical.

  2. "We rarely ever see one another. As a result, we're not that close."

That's how I would write it. It's a bit long as it is - the 'so' is unnecessary - and the structure flows so much better if you break up the sentence. Try reading it out loud and see the difference.

  3. I'd say "We rarely see each other"....and "we're", not "were"

  4. Hey! Your almost there.

Well depending on the English that I know, I would rather write the sentence like this:

"We rarely ever see each other, so as a result, we're not that close."

and if you want to change it up then:

"Because we rarely see each other, we're not that close."
