Can you tell me the salary of hairstylists?

I'm considering going back to school to become a licensed cosmetologist in Texas. Anyone know an approximate starting salary. Thank you

When I was doing it in Ky. about $600. a wk. That was 2yrs ago and you will work your a## off !

Most set their own hours and prices so it varies a lot. It also makes a difference if you work for a chain, someone else, or own your own salon.

I live in IL, but usually you're guarenteed $6/hr, but if you make over that in comission, than you'll get paid comission.  Different places have a different % of comission.  Plus you get tips which is nice.  I think I used to average $8-$9/hr plus tips.
