Can you tell me what kind of sweet potato this is?

I usually eat the big ones with orange color on the inside. I've bought this new ones, and its a bit smaller, it has a pink/purple ish skin and the inside is white instead of orange.

What are these sweet potatoes called?

Are you sure it's not a  Perunian Blue Potato?

I've always called those sweet potatoes the orange ones are called kumara here (Aus)

I far prefer the white/purple ones when bakes they are far sweeter and caramelise beautifully and become wonderfully soft and gooey drunig cooking, they are also good in vegetable curries

That doesn't sound like a sweet potato to me. I agree with the previous poster; that sounds like a "new potato".

It is called Boniato, it is the kind of sweet potato that the Spanish and some West Indians eat. I personally prefer this one over the one with the orange color inside. It is very tasty.
