Water is a great solvent; it dilutes almost everything. It's essential to life for all carbon based life forms. It's essential to the weather patterns on planet Earth... the rain falls, works it's way back to the ocean, cools and heats up causing different weather conditions.  Humans are water creatures. I believe I read that we're 98% water.
