  1. Well, without water... we'd all die.

  2. Water is the Earth's universal solvent. It's important to the animals and the planet because it's a natural and unlimited resource that needs to be treated well and with care. It can be used for recreation and agricultural needs such as raising animals, harvesting crops and entertainment needs.

  3. When water freezes, it expands, which is very unique to water.  This allows ice to float, and when rainwater freezes in the cracks of rocks, it expands and helps to break down the rock.

Water can also take a large amount of heat without greatly changing its own temperature.  This results in water being a very useful cooling agent.

Water (the H2O molecule) is also polar, so it is 'sticky' and adhesive.  This leads to water tension and other properties of water.

  5. Water is a great solvent; it dilutes almost everything. It's essential to life for all carbon based life forms. It's essential to the weather patterns on planet Earth... the rain falls, works it's way back to the ocean, cools and heats up causing different weather conditions.  Humans are water creatures. I believe I read that we're 98% water.
