Can you tell me what you think of my act of civil disobedience?

In Arizona, our socialist governor Janet Napolitano spent like a drunken sailor with every leftist do gooder type program known to mankind while the tax money from the housing bubble was rolling in. Now she has a whale of a budget deficit on her hands and, in true socialist style, has no interest in cutting any of her big government spending. Instead, she wants to install around 200 speed cameras on Arizona highways to hassle productive citizens and shake them down. If this blatant attempt at theft becomes reality, I plan to take a day and do nothing but drive back and forth between Phoenix and Tucson at the minimum highway speed of 45 MPH. My goal is to create a traffic jam so large that the state highway patrol is preoccupied. If one pulls me over I will say "Officer, I want to make sure I comply with Governor Napolitano's mandate to be safe!!! How could you object?

So, what do you think?

  1. That's not dcivil disobedience. It's being an inconsiderate jacka** and inconviencing a log of people.

  2. Without the help of other 45 mph'ers in the other lanes you won't have much impact.

  3. sounds dangerous... someone might slam into yr rear at 100 mph... but yeah that would slow traffic down until the police spot you and they'll have it on camera and that will be admissible in court.   So unless you have the press on yr side you will just get yrself a ticket... unless other drivers know what you are trying to accomplish they will just flip you off fr driving like a jerk. You should try a more productive route (relative term huh?) if you are serious about "curing" yr problem.

    I dig yr sarcasm tho.

  4. Hey, it's your gas money.  Go for it.  Say hi to my brother in Tucson.

  5. Sounds cool, but it may cause an accident and endanger other drivers that are traveling at the maximum legal speed. Do it if you want but be prepared to cause an accident.

  6. well I dont think its a good idea cause you will be spending an awful alot of money on gas...but it is a free country and one does have to make a statement...so i say go for it and be sure to bring ya some good tons to listen tooLOL

  7. Sounds great to me, RPMc.  (siced-sic-sicced)  Hope you don't mind.

  8. What you are actually communicating is that you wish to tie up dollars paying policemen(and women) by causing traffic problems. That is not civil disobedience. Try starting a meet-up group of like minded individuals. That is what true democracy comes from. If you eventually are able to make your point of view recognized in your community you will have an effect on the local government. Good Luck.

  9. Please, go ahead. And take a week.

Anything to keep you away from asking stupid questions here.

  10. Look at San Francisco they installed those cameras and so many tickets were written that now the people are driving the speed limit and the city cant collect any money, but I like your idea too. maybe others will join in and really s***w things up.

  11. i think it won't make a difference to her. if you feel she is not doing a good job, campaign against her, start a letter writing campaign, letters to the editor, you must maintain your credibility if you want anyone to listen to you and driving around like that won't do it

  12. sounds dumb and a waste of money and could actually do the opposite of the safe thing...... going the minimum speed is generally recommended in adverse weather conditions...... i prefer to keep up with the movement of traffic without going over..............  sounds like you don't care for your governor and how can one person create a traffic jam that will get you pulled over?

  13. Well, even if you don't like the guv, you might start by ending the name calling.  It doesn't help your case much.  I don't find a problem with the cameras.  Don't speed and you won't have a problem.  If you do, pay your fine.  It's not like it's a big surprise and it's a viable way to raise revenue. How is making you pay a fine for breaking the law theft and shaking you down?

I don't see why you would be pulled over for doing the speed limit.  How is complying with the law an act of civil disobedience?  It sounds more like a public service.

Is gas cheap in Arizona?  Maybe I'll move there.

  14. most states will still give you a ticket for driving the minimum

    because you are impeding traffic

well that's what the cop said when he was writing me a ticket

my car was over heating and the slower i drove the more miles i could get out of it before i had to stop and put water in

the cop told me i needed to stay off the highway that's what the city streets were for

good idea if you can get away with  it
