Can you tell me where to get free donations of building supplies for families to help with home repairs?

This summer our community and school will have volunteers to do home repairs for three families with children. These homes are in need of doors, windows, cabinets, lights, fixtures, etc... We have recieved insulation but we have a long way to go with other materials. Many of these homes are old and in need of repair. We have little housing available in our rural community.

If you’re working through a recognized organization, then write some local building supply stores asking for donations. There may also be some salvage companies in your area that have surplus.

Keep an eye on your local freecycle group, if there is one; and keep checking the freebies section of your local paper or on-line classifieds site.

Call Habitat For Humanity, they are located in every area of the country. There is also a free site on the net called Freecycle and you can get alot of things from there
