Can you tell me why Oussama Mellouli was not disqualified after beating Grant Hackett in the 1500m final?

On TV it looked like he got out of the water before all the competitiors had finished the race. I though this meant you got disqualified!

  3. No, he stayed in the water until everyone was finished. We were watching it. My husband (who is Tunisian and a fan) was quite excited since this is the first gold medal for Tunisia in about 40 years. Grant Hackett did a great job, he was just a little behind Mellouli.

    Mellouli didn't beat Grant Hackett's World Record or Olympic Record, Grant Hackett should be thankful for that.
