  1. No you can't tell.

Most people who are diagnosed with breast cancer have felt no pain, and many have had no symptoms at all. I had some pain, but my breast cancer was advanced by that stage.

Doctors, even cancer specialists, can't tell if someone has breast cancer without the appropriate tests

If you're concerned that you might have breast cancer you should see a doctor, but - forgive me if I'm wrong - I get the impression from the way you write that you're quite young. Be aware that breast cancer is mainly a disease of ageing; 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and almost unheard of in under 25s

The American Cancer Society recommends that women begin breast self-examination at the age of 20

  2. Best thing against CANCER is to NOT FEAR it!!!

If you think you may have it, go straight to a doctor for all required tests.

Regarding PAIN, what I've mostly heard related to breast cancer is that women first find a lump. Some times pain in the breast area can be simply explained, such as by cysts or having hurt that part and not be aware of it.

But guessing in these situations is never advisable. PLEASE go to doctor. If lack of proper insurance or any type of economic problem keeps person from doctor office, there's the hospital emergency room. Let them know that you're having pain and it'll be enough.

  3. Best thing to do is to have a thorough breast exam and a mammogram done. The mammogram will scan the breast to check for hidden lumps and etc that you can't feel. I have both done regularly since breast cancer runs heavily on my mom's mother's side. My grandmother (mom's mother) had breast cancer and her two sisters had it too. It is best to be checked instead of worrying about it and not getting checked.

  4. To answer your question, unless there is very advanced disease you cannot tell on your own if you have breast cancer and most people diagnosed with breast cancer feel nothing at all. It is rarely possible for a doctor to tell by physical exam alone, a mammogram and an exam from a doctor is the way to start.
