The word “proud” has two different meanings . One meaning is “feeling pleasure or satisfaction” or “having a high opinion of one's own dignity or importance” . It is referred to negatively in the Bible and Websters Dictionary describes it as haughty, arrogant, self -- respect, imposing, splendid, or spirited . The word “proud” has good connotations, but it also has negative ones . Can you think of another word that might replace the “proud” to describe its negative aspects ?
