  1. No, because you pull a goaltender if you are down 1 or 2 goals and are desperate for extra scoring advantages

Nobody pulls their goalie while ahead or in a tied game.

  2. The Zamboni coming on the ice.

  3. NEVER!

  4. figure it out urself jeeeeeeeeeeez

  5. Sure. Two teams are playing each other, 1 team is winning to tie the other in total points on the last day of season and goals for comes into play, leading team may need to pull goalie to stay ahead in total goals,if losing team pulled goalie and leading team needed a goal late to stay ahead in total goals... Could happen but highly unlikely.

    P.S.

I remember back in the 70's when the rangers had won earlier to tie Montreal for the final playoff spot, Montreal was playing Chicago to finish the season and all Montreal had to do was win or score 6 goals and they would be in, they pulled their goalie in the 1st period after Chicago had built a 4-0 .  lead. In your scenario, if it had been Chicago who needed the goal differential to make the playoffs, they could have pulled their goalie as well to keep the 6 goal difference. Unlikely but possible. Good question.

  6. YESSSS

    If...

Team 1 is down by a goal so they pull there goalie.

Then team 1 gets a penalty and Team 2 has the puck.

Then team 2 would pull there goalie bcuz that wat u do wen the other team gets a penalty wen u have the puck

  7. well the only one I can think of is if a team is going to try to score and they pull the goalie for the extra skater. Then while in the offensive zone they, for example, take a hooking penalty, and they dont touch the puck, so the defending team pulls their goalie since the offensive team cant score without touching the puck. voila, you have both goalies pulled.

  8. If one is coached by Mike Keenan and the other by a clone of the dictator.

It would help if both had given up soft goals.

(Or in exhibition / preseason games, like what Andrew C said)

  9. Uhm lets say Pittsburgh is destroying the Devils 14 - 5 and there still 15 minutes remaineng in the 2nd period.  MA Fleury looks like he has a limp in goal.  Hes not going to get a shutout and hes in line for the win, so Pittsburgh would pull him to check on his limp and avoid further injury.  Meanwhile the Devils would pull Brodeur because they are being destroyed and have a slim to none chance of coming back.

  10. Honestly I can't.  There is no situation where it would be strategically smart and no two teams would even do it as a joke....maybe in the pee-wee leagues but not on the large scale

  11. mmm, not really

  12. the only time i can think of it possibly happening is if the teams are tied and they both really need the win (eg. make playoffs). But this VERY unlikely.

  13. in a video game??

  14. YES... If a goalie has already been pulled by Team A and then they commit a penalty thats delayed, then Team B would do the normal thing and pull their goalie until Team A touches or takes posession of the puck. I saw that last year in a Wings game.

  15. Yeah for a brief time I could see it happening like this: Team A is down a goal with about a minute to go and pulls their goalie. Just as he enters the bench one of his team-mates takes a penalty while team B has the puck. To get an extra attacker out team B pulls their goalie. Until there is a whistle it would be concievable for both teams to be playing without a goalie.

  16. In exhibition games before the season starts it's not uncommon to see both goaltenders changed at the halfway point of the game in order to get both goalies playing time before the season starts.
