I would like to raise money for charity but I can't think of any ideas in which I can raise money that would be fun and appeal to students. I'm in year 10 currently and would appreciate some good answers xx

  1. you could have a stall and sell stuff all of the same colour -get your friends to donate items

  2. pj day everyone wears they pjs that fun for kids

  3. My brother made tea and brownies and raised lots of money for the school. They have car washes and some of the middle school girls made jewelry. You can have book sales and  auctions, fruit sales. you could do something with St. Jude's, Pennies for patients, or invisible children. You can collect can food for your local churches.

  4. i have always wanted to do a ''eat 4 cream crackers in a minite and whistle'' stall, sounds easy but try it yourself, i would give 5/1 odds to anybody who can do it, maximum bet £5, one win only

  5. Balloon race

car wash on a Sat morning in playground

    Pie the teacher

Pay a pound for a dress as you please day

  6. cake sale

    book/toys sale

    raffle

  7. My son's band instructor got together with OneWorld Children's Funds Network and put a program together with them.  So far they've done two concerts (the second expanded to include a couple other schools choruses and two shows).

A wonderful and GROWING anual event that's raising money for children in Africa.  Next year they may be looking for a bigger auditorium it's been so popular.

  8. Well you could sponsor a car wash, at some location where there is a outdoor water faucet , with easy accesses. and exit.  Get some friends together for a bake sale.  You could even try raising money by going out and collecting old news papers, and turning them in for money at a paper recycling facility.  Or you could ask for donations at the nearest shopping mall, be sure to get their permission first.  You will need a few signs, and it wouldn't hurt to advertise over a local radio station, for school, and nonprofit organizations it will usually be free for a couple of advertisements, also run a small add in your local news paper.

  9. Hey there, Shaila!

I've been heavily involved with nonprofit fund raising for years....so here are some ideas I have that could be relatively low in cost for your cause...

    1) Consider a mail campaign - depending on how many mailing addresses you have, you never know how many people might respond to your cause and just write you a check! This works amazingly well for several organizations that are short on time AND resources.

    2) Consider running an online auction - this is an AWESOME way to get to the people whose mailing addresses you don't have (ie you've got their EMAILS)...your email base can feel like they're using their expendable income on great stuff AND its going to their community at the same time!

I've included a link of one of the online auction companies that I've worked with...cMarket. They also have another website, BiddingforGood.com, that opens your auction up to all their members so that people who you don't even know can donate to your cause and bid on your items!

    3) Instead of having a garage sale at your home, try having a "garage" sale on eBay! Think of it as a virtual way to get rid of some stuff AND make a little more money...(make sure you include the cost of shipping those items online or else you'll end up losing money!).

    4) Have a fundraising event - give people in your community something to look forward to, and host a gala....you can sell tickets, have an auction, raffle prizes, etc that will give your church something to look forward to AND a perfect opportunity to donate to something they care about.

    5) One last tid bit - consider selling sponsorships for your event...this can help off set some of your cost INCREDIBLY. You'd be surprised how many local businesses want to be a part of your cause-minded event! You can ask for anywhere around $500 per sponsor, and if you put your auction online, you can ask for even more than that because they'll be getting just that much more exposure through your website and event emails!

Best of luck with all of this! :)

  10. Enrol a few 'sporty' types and have a sponsored 'Amazing Race'

Firstly you carry out a slow-time recce of your local area - pick out significant land-marks (churches, unusual architecture, statues, rivers and waterways, etc).

Then turn these into cryptic clues (in rhyme if you can find someone who is talented in doing this) - for instance - what is the name of a certain statue...Who is the Licensee of a certain pub / club (this displayed outside the establishment)....how much is it for 2 hours parking at your local multi-storey car-park..etc etc

Throw in a few 'tasks' - such as obtaining a takeaway menu from a pizza hut...the telephone number from a local phone booth....the price of diesel at an en route petrol station... a free local newspaper..Runners incur time penalties for each 'clue' missed (this is to stop people just legging it around to get back in first).  All runners issued with a pencil and clue sheet with room for answers.  A small prize for the winner (inexpensive trophy) - you could make it an annual event to make it more competitive.  Give the 'runners' a couple of weeks to get in the sponsership pledges.  It does work!  I did it last year and raised a lot of money for charity.
