Can you trace a prank call?BESIDES calling the cops?

im "friend" is having a birthday party...he prank called my house and i have the idea that it was him,because its all guys.(no offense)and i just wanna make sure it was him.so i can beat him at his own game!!the caller id doesnt show it and i had tried *69...oh well..instinct i guess?

that *69 as advised by most, doesn't apply in all cases. just think it if i will know your number and i will call it for how many times, i'm 100% sure you won't know that it's me. simple reasons, i can use different numbers landlines and cellphones to call you but won't show my numbers to you. so how will you know it's me? we live in different countries, so call reverse or whatever they will advise you to trace that call is not possible. i may use my international member's card to call you too, this way i have to use public phones also. so only the telephone company of your phone can (maybe) able to trace the number where it comes from (esp the country) but not exactly from WHOM (name of that person).

*if you think that prank calls come from the guy you know, you may answer it at one time and tell him, thanks for calling always and i like the way you do this to me, then drop the phone. the next time he calls, don't answer. sooner or later he will stop. be patient and don't show you are mad as this will be the most cases that will attract them more to do harassment to you thru prank calls.

+if you have friends, family members to call you, tell them that they must show their numbers when they call. in that way, you can only pick up calls with numbers displayed on your screen.
