or is it something they're either born with, or not?

And if they can be trained, how do I go about that?

  1. You will probably find a blood glucose machine to be more convenient, more accurate, less expensive, and less messy for blood sugar purposes as compared to a blood sugar detecting puppy.

  2. I think that your dog can pick up on cues that your blood sugar is low or high. And I'm not sure about the training thing but I would call a dog trainer and find out who to call for this kind of training. I also think that the more the dog is around the diabetic the more likely it is that the dog will show you what it is capable of.
