Keep in mind I'm a grown woman. Can you learn not to talk so that you don't embarrass yourself and everyone around you anymore?

  1. Sure you can, just by asking this question means you are concious of something that you want to change about yourself...make it your mantra for a while, something like "just listen, be quiet, be quiet quiet quiet..." Keep in mind tho, that if you feel embarrassed by what you say, it might not be YOU, it might be the people you are talking to that have the problem...I feel the same way sometimes, cuz I like to talk...but taking a break from your own words and voice is good once in a while, practicing listening and thinking before you speak is something we could all use a dose of! ;-).....peace!

  2. It can't be that bad

  3. Yes it can be done...With family it will be hard. However if you start a new job it will be easier.  I did this at job I had few years ago ... I was beloved at that job ... mainly cause I was quiet, listened well to others and kept my opinions to myself. It also kept me from saying things that I would later regret.

If I may pry just a little ... That fact that you want to NOT TALK CAUSE of embarrassment can sometimes mean that you might have a social anxiety issue... Perhaps research that online.

I only say that cause I have Avoidant  Personality disorder so I kind of understand you not wanting to talk.

  4. I usually don't talk unless there's something to say that has a point. I don't do small talk just to fill up an awkward silence. However, it's silly to be afraid of embarassing yourself. It WILL happen. Messing up is a part of life.

  5. A roll of duck tape is good.
