Can you transfer your Itunes songs onto a different computer?

Ok i have an imac desktop with all my itunes songs on..but i am getting a macbook now..and i want my songs on my laptop..so i was wondering if you can transfer them somehow. If you can, can you please tell me how you do it? thanks.
