Can you translate this Japanese statement?

Does anyone speak Japanese? I am working on my elementary Japanese homework and came across a sentence I am supposed to personalize, but I do not know what it means. It is pronounced "maekawamichikodesu." Can anyone translate this? The online translators I've tried haven't worked. Thanks.

I'd like to just add a tiny bit on to what the first answer says.

Maekawa Michiko desu - I am Michiko Maekawa

Remember, your last name goes first! So if you are to personalise it, this is how to do it. Let's imagine your name is Jack Jones.

To personalise it, you would not say "Jack Jones desu", you would say "Jones Jack desu". Put your last name first! This is the way it is done in Japanese!

Maekawa Michiko is a name.  Which is probably why online translators didn't work.

So, as you probably should know, "Maekawa Michiko desu." means "I am Michiko Maekawa."

Now all you have to do is put your name in place of Ms. Maekawa's ^.^

If my name is Bobby Johnson for example, I would say:

"Bobii Jonson desu."

I am Bobby Johnson.
