امشب توی واین کلابی که هر جمعه شب با بچه ها دایر می کنیم نیل رو به من کرد و گفت "چی شده؟ ساکتی امشب!" گفتم "هیچی! خیلی سردماغ نیستم." گفت "اتفاقی افتاده!؟ اوضاع رو براهه؟" گفتم "مثل همیشه همه چیز خوبه. فقط من حال و حوصله ندارم. تو پریودم." اینو گفتم که یهو ملت با صدای بلند زدند زیر خنده. انگار همه منتظر بودند که لااقل یه خورده از چرندگویی های معمول من رو بشنوند.

امشب از نظر روحی خسته بودم که با بچه ها برم بیرون پس شراب ام رو زودی سر کشیدم و برگشتم خونه. گذشته از اون طی یک ماه گذشته هر هفته دو سه شب اش رو بیرون بوده ام. اگه امشب هم بیرون می رفتم شاید باز مثل بسیاری دفعه های دیگه ساعت سه و چهار صبح مست و پاتیل به خونه بر می گشتم. کلی هم پول خرج می کردم و کبدم رو با بیش از اندازه الکل نوشیدن داغون می کردم.

Tonight, at the wine club where I go with the lads every Friday, Neil turned to me and said, "What's happened? You seem quiet tonight."  I said, "Nothing. I don't feel very cheery." He said, "Has something happened? Is everything all right?"  I said, "As always, everything is fine. It's just that I'm not really in a good mood.  I'm having my period!"  As soon as I said this, everyone burst into laughter.  It was as if everyone was waiting to hear at least some of the usual nonsense I come out with.

I was feeling emotionally tired tonight to even go out with the others.  So I quickly downed the rest of my wine and went back home.  Besides, I have been out 2 or 3 times a week for a month now.  If I had stayed out tonight, I might have possibly got home at 3 or 4 in the morning, like many other times; drunk and wasted.  I would have spent loads of money too, and destroyed my liver by drinking way too much alcohol.
