Question:

Can you travel to Ireland if you have a felony?

My husband's university has a campus in Ireland and he has the opportunity to study there next year. I have already found that he does not need a visa to travel there, just his passport. He has a felony on his record but it was years ago and he is not on probation or anything.

Since he's not getting a visa I'm guessing they won't even know about his felony? So would it stop him from being able to enter Ireland?

  1. hallo,

you know that every case is specific.

you should contact the embassy and try to apply for visa.

  2. If his felony is in Ireland- I wouldn't bet on it.

This may be something you should ask in the legal questions.

Do you really want to find the answer to this question standing in the immigration line at the airport- being told entry is being refused? Find out before he goes.

Check with the passport office/website of the country that issued his passport.

  3. My boyfriend also has a felony of the 5th degree. I know he can not travel out of state, but he is still on probation. I would just look in your phone book at the numbers in the front and call one of those numbers like the jail, or judge....they may be able to give you and answer od at least some information on how you can find out.
