After you have switched the Shut Down button is it safe to turn it off by the plug and will this make any difference to the shut down or break the computer?

  1. After the computer is switched off by OS XP then whether you switch on or switch off your power it does not matter because that supply goes to UPS. from UPS only power is given to Computer.

  2. It is OK to unplug the PC once it was turned off.

  3. It's safe to turn it off.

Sudden loss of power may cause you to lose work in some programs (e.g. music apps, MS Word - which can be recovered quite well) but it does not mean everything in a session is lost.  File and folder movements do not rely on a "save" command to be stored for good.  They are automatically written to the hard drive unlike playlists or documents.

Sudden loss of power can result in file/system corruption.

  4. I always do that, and my computer has been fine all these 6 years. It shouldn't be a problem. In fact this saves energy.

  5. no this will do nothing to your system

  6. Once the machine has completed shutting down, turning it off at the plug causes absolutely no problems.

You should wait until the shut down is complete prior to removing power, however, as during the shut down process Windows cleans up a lot of temporary files and the like that are used whilst it is running. If you don't wait, the performance of your machine will degrade to the point you'll have to reinstall the OS to clean up the mess left over time

  7. No, it is safe to turn off the computer from the mains or just by holding the OFF button at the front. BUT, you will lose anything you have done in that session.

If you moved some folders around, made a new playlist on WMP, andthing like that will be reverted to the way it was before. It's not a major problem for most people so they turn it off from the mains quite often (like myself).

    Hope that helps.
