Can you update mlb 2k8 rosters in franchise?

In franchise for mlb 2k8 the rosters arent updated at all for example johan santana isnt on the mets and i downloaded a roster update and it still hasnt been updated in franchise is there anyway i can update franchise rosters?

i think u can updsate b4 u go to franchise by doing multiple trades and free agency pick ups and save and it carrys over to franchise
