Yes, you could, it's also a very bad idea.

Using your lead rounds is perfectly fine.

Steel BBs, Crosman(copper plated) or Daisy(zinc plated) are much harder on the barrel of your Crosman Phantom.

Also, BBs are not really .177 caliber, depending upon the maker they are .171 to .173 caliber. Steel BBs rattling down the barrel of a rifle designed to shoot the much softer lead pellets is not good for the barrel

Read this article >BBs are they the same as the .177<

  2. yeah you can i recommend bb's because the arrow dynamics are better which will give it better performance and kill just about any small game animal in your back yard

  3. Not in your rifle. There are a few airguns made for both pellets and BBs, but yours is not one of them.

Mixed pellet-BBs barrels have a special rifling and are made of a different material that doesn't give as much accuracy as a pellet-only barrel.

You can still shoot lead round balls (such as Gamo Round), because they behave just like a pellet in your barrel.

    Shoot safely.

  4. Yes, they will work, and Crossman does sell copper plated steel BBs for that purpose.   They'll be harder on the barrel, and accuracy won't be as good though.

The barrels of pellet guns are typically rifled.   Steel BBs are much harder than the lead pellets, so they can cause more wear on the rifling.  If you intend to use them, the solid copper or copper plated ones that are intended for use in pellet guns are preferred.   Copper is much softer than steel, so they won't be as hard on the barrel.

Of course, lead is FAR softer than either metal, so lead pellets are better still.   They also engage the rifling and are stabilized better than round projectiles so you'll get better accuracy with lead pellets.

That said, even using industrial ball bearings in .177 cal, it will take a fair number of BBs before the wear is bad enough that it affects accuracy.

  5. yeah u can

  6. yes you can but because the bb's don't seal the same way as the pellets they wont hit as hard or go as far.
