  1. just make sure that its clean and it should work. crushed walnut shells that you can get in pet stores also work well.

  2. No Ground English Peanut shells are great for juvenilles because it can pass through they're stomach and they also will know how to spit it up { when my dragon eats he spits the shells out of his mouth and onto his lips }

  3. My only concern is Hermit Crab sand may be too fine.  Some reptiles have respiratory problems with dusty substrate.  The walnut shells mentioned previously would be better, or tree bark possibly.  Change it frequently.

    Newspaper works fine, it just doesn't look as pretty.  You could also use Astroturf.  Pretty easy to clean.

  4. No,it can of will get impacted in the BD and cause major injury or worse your beardy dies and I know you don't want that,Listen a easy way to keep your beardy is to keep he/her on a towel,a brown towel looks good and is easy to clean and if you have the money then tile looks really good,but sand of any kind is really bad for them and could cause lots of problems.Hope I helped and good luck.OH just to let you know NO loose substrate all loose substrate can get impacted in the beardy and the dust will cause upper respiratory problems so use only tile,paper towels,towels,or reptile carpet.
