I was just wondering if you could use New Zealand money in Austrailia because I am going to both and if I have leftover New Zealand money (I'm going there first), and I run out of Austrailian money because I am staying there longer. Thanks so much for your answers; I really appreciate it!

  1. No - they are two separate country's, so two separate currency's.

Money is very easy to change at the airports.

  2. Most banks in Australia will exchange your New Zealand currency for Australian dollars.

  3. no,they are two different countries

  4. You could exchange the paper money in Australia but YOU CANNOT EXCHANGE THE COINS. The coins in New Zealand have changed and none of them are able to be used in Australia so make sure you buy something or exchange it before you leave. When you leave NZ exchange the money at one of the banks at the airport to save you any hassle in Australia.

  5. Definitly NO,

  6. You can use it, once you have changed it at a local bank, into the local currency.

  7. One of the things that amazes me when travelling is how so many countries do accept currency from other countries. However in Australia only the Australian Dollar is legal currency, the rest must be exchanged at a currency exchange place (there are plenty around, and will be one at every international airport).

Do what I did and budget finely enough to blow the rest in NZ before you leave, put your last few things on plastic if you must ;)

  8. No! Even though some of the coins looks similar and many people try to 'pass' them, shopkeepers particularly in tourist areas watch for them, and reject them. (NZ currency is worth less than Australian).

  9. I understand the paper money is excellent for starting fires.

  10. No
