Can you use a 1000 rpm mower with a 540 P.T.O.

I have a 15ft. bat wing 1000 rpm mower and a john deere 1000-540. I am looking at a kubota but it only has 540. I can change yokes but will the mower turn fast enough to do a good job.

You've kind of answered your own question.  Do some more research & find a tractor with the dual PTO option.  Definitely, the mower will do a poor job when turning at half speed.

No.  It'll be running just a fuzz over half-speed.

It may get the job done if the grass is thin, but as soon as the going gets heavy, forget it.
