Ok, heres my question.

Can you put on a 8 Hp engine on a minibike?

The Engine is a brigs and straten. Will it be to much for the bike to handle? Will it just be over kill? How fast do you think it can go?

Thank you!

  1. Here's a bit of info for you:

It's for classic Cushman scooters but much of it will apply for your ideas.

As has been mentioned; make sure you have good brakes and not the scrub type, drum or disk only and make sure the frame is strong and well designed. Some cheap mini-bikes are dangerous even without an engine.

  2. I have an 8hp briggs powered chopper I made with a cvt tranny.  It's geared low mabey 45mph tops but It easily pulled a pocked bike with a 200lb rider up a mountain in VT. (long story)  Depending how it's geared you could hit 60+mph. Mine will rip up the grass starting off with knobby tires.

  3. You can if it fits. The power wouldn't be a issue. Strange choice for a bike tho. A c70 engine or some thing along them lines would make more sense.

  4. yes you can.

speed depends on the sprocket setup

Make sure you have good working brakes
