Can you use a C-7 bulb in a B suggested table lamp/night light?

It says use B, but a C-7 lights and seems fine. Will I start a fire or some other catastrophe doing this? It's a "fluted lilly" type deal, two bulbs, one per "blossom." Any thoughts?

  1. Surely you have some strange letters for the lamp, these are not standard configurations.  Dealy bobs are hard to figure out.  Lights are designed for specific fixtures with specific temperatures and voltages.  You may get it to work temporarily, but it may short/overload the system and start a fire.  Make sure that you leave the gas on and the pilot light off if you want a good explosion and fire.

  2. I don't think there will be a problem. The difference is slight. The B is torpedo shaped usually used in chandeliers, and the C is cone shaped, and usually used in small night lights. The C-7 is 7/8 of an inch in diameter which wouldn't be any larger than a B. I just wouldn't exceed the maximum wattage.  ...Good Luck...
