Can you use a Ps3 component cable on a normal LCD TV (not HD)?

I am really confused. i bought a normal LCD tv which i think has a video component socket. Will this make the picture of the ps3 better on a normal LCD TV. I am not really sure because nothing on the internet answers my questions. Can anyone help??

If there are Component inputs on the TV, then yes, you can use a Component cable between the PS3 and TV.

It should make the picture look a lot better than it would if you were using a S-Video or A/V cable. It will still only be standard definition, however.
