  1. I wish the holders of these railcards would acdtually read the terms and conditions that they signed for when applying for the railcard, the only railcard that cannot be used before 9am is the network card, all other railcards can be used but may be subject to minimum fares or restrictions.

The YP card has a minimum fare of 8GBP single and 16GBP return on weekdays before 10am.

  2. Cant use ANY NR Railcard before 0900

  3. yes you can but there is a minimum fare of about £9 so that rules out local journeys!

  4. It all depends on the route you are traveling & where to.

It is always best to check with you local train operator at their ticket office. As for using the machines! Well a person is far better to speak to and sort out any tickets!!!!

    I hope that this helps

  5. Yes you can but minimum fares apply before 10am .From where I live travelling on the 6.40am train to Blackpool North cost £15.60 for myself and £10.30 for my son using his YP railcard.Hope this answers your question

  6. Yes however a minimum fare of £8 single and £16 return fare is chargeable.

As for the fares machine depends which type you are using, I am only familiar with the Southern / South Eastern Quickfare machines, if you are using them, select destination and type of ticket, press railcards at bottom of screen, choose YP or Young Person, this should then show the discount on the ticket. However, some locations have a bar on allowing these purchases until after 10am when all restrictions are lifted on all rail discount cards so you may have to go to the Ticket Clerk or Gateline Assistant if there is one. If you come from one of the few locations that have neither of these, obtain a PERTIS (permission to travel) stub ticket from the machine and pay the Conductor onboard the train or at your destination.

  7. No, All train tickets are FULL PRICE before 9am.
