  1. It does depend wot sort of card you have. i have a multi function card from Abbey and use it a lot in Southern Ireland. Never had any problems. Enjoy your holiday.

  2. NOPE

  3. It depends on what sort of card it is (switch / maestro, solo, visa etc) but generally you can use any bank's cash cards to withdraw cash from any country that has cashpoints. Paying in shops with debit cards is a bit different though, but as long as you just want to take cash out, and know your PIN, you should be fine. Check the rate Abbey charge too - some banks / building societies, e.g. Nationwide, no longer charge you a fee for using overseas ATMs.

  4. If your card displays an international logo such as Maestro/Cirrus/Plus/Visa, it will function in virtually any ATM in the world. In most countries the card should also be accepted as payment in shops and restaurants that display the signs of the aforementioned payment methods. There certainly should be no problem using the card in the Republic of Ireland.

Note that Abbey charges both a foreign transaction fee and currency conversion commission on all overseas transactions on its current accounts.

I have copied and pasted the following information from the Abbey website:

    CHARGES FOR USING CASH MACHINES

Abbey cash machines or LINK cash machines: No charge

PLUS cash machine withdrawal handling charge: 1.5% of the value (minimum £1.50)

Cirrus-badged machines withdrawal handling charge: £1 + 1.5% of the value

Visa debit card and Visa Electron card usage outside the UK: 2.75% of the value

Visa cash withdrawal handling charge: 1.5% of the value (minimum £1.50)

    OTHER CHARGES

Using your VISA debit card or VISA Electron card to purchase foreign currency; travellers cheques: 1.5% of the value (minimum £1.50)

  5. If it has Cirrus or Maestro on it, yes, though where 'southern Ireland' is, I don't know.

Please don't call the country that when you are here.

  6. I have used my abbey card all over the world. It has CIRRUS on the back of it. No problems whatsoever. It is linked to a savings account so I do not incur any charges either.

  7. Yes love , you can.  They are Visa Electron cards and they work Internationally. I have used mine in England, Ireland and as far as Texas with no problems xxxx
