Can you use a bass guitar amp with an electric guitar?

I play electric guitar and already have an amp for it..but my grandmother bought me another one. Its a bass amp though. Can I use that one with my guitar or no?

  1. Sure you can. It won't sound too great. Bass amps are made for more low end tones. Not so much the mid to high ends put out by an electric guitar.

    But never play an electric bass guitar through a normal electric guitar amp. You'll blow the speaker in no time.


  2. I know a punk guitarist who uses a bass amp. i bet you could get some really mellow jazz tones from that thing with your guitar.

    there is never a wrong way to do anything in music. find the sound you like and use it. although running bass guitars through guitar amps will equal disaster at higher volumes.
