We have got a holiday home in Cyprus, therefore we have loads of stuff for in the sea.

We have no skimboards but have a few 'polystyrene' body boards could we use these. I have never done skimboarding before so please help as we are going on holiday soon.

  1. It sounds like you have a really old bodyboard without the plastic bottom. If this is the case it's probably not worth it . If you have the plastic bottom it will work, but not as good as a proper skimboard. Skimboarding can really hurt to learn and I recommend people to use a plastic bottom bodyboard to learn untill they feel pretty comfortable and then move on to the real thing.

  2. body boards arent the best thing to use because if you do try and use them they will just sink. at least that was my experience with that. as soon as you throw the body board it seems like it would work but then when you jump on it, the board just stops.

  3. a body-board is thick with a sleek plastic underside and is perfect for conquering waves , but a skim board needs to be thin , areodynamic , and sleek and a skim board is way better bulit for youse on wet sand not on water ,  you could try it but it won't work the same way a skim board does , a skim board can be safe if you have the proper balance and grip , like waxing which is more than better! well good luck !
