Can you use a clothes peg for a capo?

I need a capo, but before i buy one, could i just use a clothes peg?

I've never used that before so I don't know if it'd work.

Whenever I lose my capo or I just don't have one on me, I make one out of a pencil and a rubber band.  Try to get a wood pencil and not a mechanical one.  If you don't have any regular pencils, you can use a pen or a mechanical pencil, but I've just always found the regular pencils to work better.  

Place the pencil on fret that you want the capo to be on, then wrap the rubber band around the two ends of the pencil on the back of the neck.  Make sure it's relatively tight so the pencil does not move.

Voila!  You've got a makeshift capo! :)
