U.S.A. STATE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT DICTATE IMMIGRATION POLICY TO MEXICO.

Depending on you status in the U.S.you may have a problem reentering

As of Jan 08 you need a passport even to walk across the border.  Which I find a pain since we go to Mexico at least once a year.

you do not need a passport to walk or drive across until 2009 right now youre supposed to show id and birth cert.  but i go about twice a month and have yet to be asked for anything other than id

No, the law clearly states youneed a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...a passport or birth certificate.  See site below.

Nope! u r gonna need a valid passport. BUT,.......u can take a chance on the DL and BC,...I wouldn't. It's not worth the trouble u could get into if they decided to detain u,..

Do not  make it anymore difficult.  Just get ,if able , an American Passport.

I am not sure how the law has changed but you use to be able to with a birth cert and a picture id.
