  1. I wouldn't, ceramic tile and grouting are generally sealed and will prevent moisture from penetrating to the wall beneath. You could end up with a serious blackmould problem that could be not only life threatening but very very expensive to fix in future.

I suggest you go with an inexpensive acrylic tub surround like you find at Home Depot or Lowes, learn how to install it yourself and go with that.

Otherwise, you can strip the grout from between the tiles, have the tiles reglazed in a new colour and then regrout and seal...it would look brand new and other than a sore arm from stripping grout you would end up with a beautiful new looking tub surround.

  2. not sure , i would be worried the glue would not keep. the vinyl would hold up ..just dont think the glue would .cuaes water can get in between and loosen the glue

  3. it will work but over time the soap and hot water etc will cause the  tile to lift as the adhesive starts to fail. once water gets behind the tile it become s a major issue.

    not a good investment.

have you looked at other sources of water proofing ? say plastic sheeting used in caravans for showers etc.  it is sold  as a preshaped panel for a shower cubicle and I think! you can get it in sheet form too. tiling  is most likely the long term best looking  and cost effective way to go though and is why it is the 'norm' .

  4. IT WON"T WORK!!! Look at fiberglass or acrylic panels to install. How about changing the grout or even painting the tiles. Google painting tiles and you will be amazed at the results.
