Bit of an odd question but i don't want to buy one of those handheld ones & an extension lead is out of the question, is it possible to buy some kind of adapter that allows me to use a home hoover (normal UK plug) in a car?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Re your additional info: If you use a 400w inverter with a 1000w vacuum cleaner, the inverter will just blow it's fuse.

  2. Yes, it's called a power inverter.

  3. Cause you can but leave the car outside.

  4. You could buy a power inverter, but it's a fairly extreme solution just to vac your car, as they ain't cheap, and might flatten the car's battery unless you leave the engine running. Why not just get a long extension cable, preferably one with a safety cut-out, and use that?

  5. Yes, the car can't tell.

To plug a 13amp plug into the car you need convertor you can buy one in Halford's

  6. Your car's electrical system is 12 VDC, while house electric is 120 VAC. These are not compatible or interchangeable without some sort of voltage inverter. Personally, I think it would be too expensive just to vacuum your car. Go buy a long extension cord and save yourself a lot of money !

  7. Go to the garage and use theirs, just stick a penny in the slot.
