  1. You really ought to contact the authorities and advise them of the current situation. They will then cancel your new application and let you use the old one. All passports reported lost or stolen are withdrawn and you would incur the wrath of powers that be if you tried to use it. You may get through without any problems (depending on whether it is a machine readable/double verified passport) but you may still have problems later explaining how you got from point A to B without any documentation. Not worth the hassle at all.


  2. NO! if someone uses a passport that's been reported lost, it would appear as stolen and you could get in serious trouble.

  3. I don't think so. Each passport has its own unique serial number. So having lost a passport, they would have marked it as such in the system. Trying to use it will thereby cause an alert on that passport making it very embarrassing trying to explain.

    Just turn in your old passport either in person if you're picking up the new one or by mail after you received it. Besides, the new one has a RFD chip inside which makes the process such much quicker.

  4. not sure I dont see why not but to be on the safe side I would contact the people that do the pasports and be sure
