  1. While it may be hard to see in direct sunlight or overly bright outdoor areas, it is perfectly fine to use any LCD TV outside.

    However, they do make specific TV's for those who plan to leave the TV outside as a more permanent fixture that are "elements proof." They are quite a bit  more expensive than a traditional LCD.

    Pending on how much coverage you have over the TV you could use a traditional TV outdoors through out the warmer months. If you leave near salt water, be careful about corrosion of your input cables. Take the TV indoors once the weather gets cold, as LCD is liquid and will perform worse in colder conditions.

    You may also want to consider a cover for a traditional LCD.

    Humidity is also detrimental to long term exposure. Always consult the owners manual, the first couple of pages will spec out the optimal temperature conditions.
