Can you use a steam inhaler for "special medical" herbs?

Ya know, just curious or is it strictly vaporizers?

If your steam inhaler has a built-in grinder or holding area for different herbs then it should work. I used to know someone who used some weird herbs (I think lavender and mint...didn't sound too yummy) in her steam inhaler and I was always tempted to steal it for...erm, recreational purposes ;)
