  1. it depends on what class CDL you are going to get......if you want a class A then no, because you have to show you can back with a pivot point (5th wheel/kingpin attachment) and do a blindside alley back for the license.....plus a pre trip inspection including the 5th wheel and king pin (obviously a straight truck doesnt have a 5th wheel)

  2. It depends on the license class. Class A requires the test be taken in a semi tractor trailer. Class B can be taken in a straight truck with GVW under 26000 lbs.

  3. for a class "A" you need a truck and trailer combo that meets the low end of Class "A" weight. Meaning, you can tale a class "A" road test with a 6 wheel dump truck ( not a 1 ton ) and a trailer for a piece of equipment as long as the combined gross weight is within class "A" range. Can't remember the weight. If you are going for an air brake endorsement you better have true air brakes and not air over hydraulic. I'd check with your local RMV or DMV whatever they call it in your state.

  4. uncle and dad are both truck drivers but only one currently holds a cdl and it has to be a semi truck with a trailer in order to count.

  5. It has to be a semi as far as I know some states may be different.

  6. nope its gotta be a semi

  7. it just has to be the proper weight class, and have the right brakes for the class you want (air). but if you want to have endorsements to pull a trailer you have to have a trailer
