Question:

Can you use a wet/dry vac to clean upholstery?

I had some furniture given to me that I'd like to freshen up-no spots to clean up. I also would like to clean some of my current stuff. I already have a carpet cleaner (one of those big things). So I just need something small. Do you have any recommendations? Should I just get a steamer?-Would that even work?

Thanks!!!!!

  1. No you should use a Bissell Little Green upholstery cleaner. They are inexpensive, work well, and can be found at Wal-mart.

  2. Sorry, but when it comes to my upholstery I always call in a professional; I would not do it. I have done my rugs, but never the sofa, etc.

  3. I have two upholstery cleaners.  I describe them as "Shop Vac on Steroids" with a built in sprayer.  If you are good with your rinse and extraction, I don't see why not.  It would work very similar to the carpet cleaner upholstery attachments.

  4. Yes, you can use a wet/dry vac to clean furniture but is recommended you extract the moisture from the furniture as thoroughly as possible otherwise you can cause a mold problem even water stains on the furniture I would also suggest just for freshening purposes to use one cup White Vinegar and one tablespoon Baking Soda and fill the remaining clean empty spray bottle with warm water and just spray as you would any fabric fresheners such as Fabreeze brand  Good Luck !
